Study in Canada Scholarships in Middle East and North Africa – Apply Now
The Study in Canada Scholarships program, funded by Global Affairs Canada, is now accepting applications for the 2025-2026 academic year. This initiative aims to strengthen and diversify Canada’s international linkages by offering short-term exchange opportunities to international students from various countries, including those in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Eligible countries from this region are Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, and Tunisia.
Program Overview
The scholarships are designed for students enrolled full-time at post-secondary institutions in their home countries who wish to undertake short-term studies or research in Canada. The program facilitates academic exchanges that enrich the educational experiences of both the visiting students and the Canadian institutions. By participating, students can gain exposure to different academic environments, enhance their research capabilities, and build international networks.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the scholarship, candidates must:
- Be citizens of one of the eligible countries: Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, or Tunisia.
- Be enrolled full-time at a postsecondary institution in their home country.
- Pay tuition fees to their home institution for the duration of the exchange.
Applicants are ineligible if they hold or have a pending application for Canadian citizenship or permanent residency, are already participating in a Canadian government-funded scholarship program, or are currently enrolled in a degree, diploma, or certificate program at a Canadian post-secondary institution.
Scholarship Value and Duration
The scholarship amounts vary based on the level of study and duration.
- $10,200CAD for undergraduate or graduate students for a minimum of four months or one academic term.
- $12,700 CAD for graduate students (master’s and PhD) for a period of five to six months.
These funds are intended to cover expenses such as visa or study/work permit fees, airfare, health insurance, living costs (accommodation, utilities, and food), ground public transportation, and books and supplies required for the recipient’s study or research.
Application Process
Applications must be submitted by Canadian postsecondary institutions on behalf of the candidates. Therefore, interested students should first contact the international office of their home institution to express their interest and confirm if there is an existing exchange agreement with a Canadian institution. Once a partnership is established, the Canadian institution will apply for the scholarship on the student’s behalf. The deadline for Canadian institutions to submit applications is March 18, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. EDT.
