Mary McLeod Bethune Scholarship Amount

The Mary McLeod Bethune Scholarship offers up to $3,000 each year, which can be renewed for up to 8 semesters (or twelve quarters) over 6 years or until the student earns a bachelor’s degree, whichever happens first. Undergraduates who are in college prep courses, need extra time for college-level tests or are in a five-year degree program can get support for up to 10 semesters or 15 quarters. To renew, students need at least a 3.0 GPA and must have completed twelve credit hours each term they received the award. Credits earned during the summer can count towards the total needed. Students should check with their college for renewal requirements. The scholarship provides a total of $3,000.

How To Apply For Mary McLeod Bethune Scholarship

To apply for this scholarship, you need to:

1 You must be a Florida resident and either a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen, as determined by the college you’re applying to.

2  Have not earned a bachelor’s degree.

3 Enroll at one of the following universities: Bethune-Cookman University, Edward Waters College, Florida A&M University, or Florida Memorial University, as a degree-seeking undergraduate student, taking at least 12 credit hours per term. Applications should come through the financial aid office at one of these universities.

4 Do not have any outstanding debts or be in bankruptcy related to state or federal financial aid programs, unless you’ve arranged to repay them.

5 Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 (out of 4.0) or its equivalent during high school.

Applicants are expected to send their application and other requirements by the Spring season annually (March-June).
